Your gas meter will activate in case of a major earthquake and stop the flow of gas automatically.

 

When you feel a quake, mind your own safety first.

In case of a major earthquake

  • 1. Mind your own safety when it quakes
  • 2. When it stops, close gas appliances and taps.
  • 3. .If you smell gas, stop the use of fire, open your windows and doors for ventilation.
    *Ventilation fans and other electric appliance switches may become a source of ignition.
  • 4. Do not operate them. Contact Shizuoka Gas office of your area

When you resume the flow of gas

Ensure that you smell no gas.

{ When you smell gas }, kindly contact Shizuoka Gas of your area.

You will be in one of the following three situations in case of an earthquake.

No interruption of total gas supply
→  You may continue your use of gas.

 

No interruption of total gas supply but the flow to your house is interrupted by the activation of your gas meter.
→  You may resume the use of gas by operating the meter. { Restoration of the gas meter }

 

Interruption of gas supply to your area.
→  We may stop the supply of gas to a particular area in order to avoid any secondary casualty, in which case we will inform you when we reopen the supply.
Your understanding and co-operation would be appreciated for any inconvenience caused.

In case any degree of warning is announced by the meteorological agencies for possibility of earthquakes, the gas supply will not discontinue.

However, you are recommended not to leave gas appliances and close other gas taps not in use.
Kindly close the gas meter if you are asked to evacuate your house.
