The Board of Directors met on February 14 and accepted the retirement of Chairman, of the Board Shigeru Oishi (74), to take effect from the conclusion at the Company's Annual General Meeting, scheduled to be held on March 30, 2006. The Board agreed to nominate Mr. Shiro Oishi (70), the current President, to succeed Mr. Oishi as Chairman, and Mr. Seigo Iwasaki (59), the current Senior Managing Director, to become the next President.
Mr. Iwasaki joined Shizuoka Gas Company in 1969 immediately after graduating from Waseda University with a degree in law. He has occupied various positions within the Company, including head of the Corporate Planning Department. He has been Senior Managing Director since 2001, and has supervised Finance and Accounting Department in addition to playing a supporting role in the top management. He is married with two daughters.
Mr. Shigeru Oishi, who was decorated with the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette, on November 3, 2005, will remain as the Supreme Counsel to the Company.
