— Exceeds 2 Million Cubic Meters Per Day for First Time

Shizuoka Gas recorded its highest-ever daily sendout of piped natural gas on March 1, topping the psychological two million cubic meter mark to reach 2,038,000 cubic meters.

The factors behind this achievement include greater-than-usual gas consumption for heating by households on March 1 — which was an exceptionally cold day — in addition to increases in contracted demand from large industrial users and other gas utility companies in neighboring regions.

Demand for natural gas continues to rise, particularly among industrial users, thanks to the environmental advantages of this fuel as well as its contribution (as an oil-alternative) to energy conservation. The per-day gas sendout is thus likely to continue setting new highs in the near future.
