Shizuoka Gas Company briefs its business to its monitors and hears their views and opinions once a year for better management. The 27 monitors are representatives of the local community, including the Shizuoka Prefecture and municipal governments, consumer organizations and the company's customers.
The interest of the monitors this year was focused on safety of gas and measures that the company would take at the time of a major earthquake such as the one that recently hit Niigata. The company as well as the people in Shizuoka is aware that Shizuoka is an earthquake area, and the monitors were reassured that the company staff is well trained, organized and equipped to cope with even the most serious earthquakes recorded in this region. The monitors were also interested in the high crude oil price and any impact on LNG. They also heard the stage of technological development on fuel cells and the company's support to local schools.
