Gas meter

Your gas meter not only measures the amount of gas consumption, but it also comes equipped with a safety device comparable to a circuit breaker for electricity supply. If any of the following occurs, the meter will interrupt the gas supply. A red light will blink to indicate shut-off:

  • Major earthquake is detected.
  • Gas used for an abnormal length of time. (e.g you accidentally leave your appliance turned on)
  • Abnormally large flow of gas is detected. (e.g. accidental hose disconnection)
  • Abnormal pressure drop while gas is in use.

Locate your gas meter

You may restore the flow of gas after your gas meter shuts off gas upon detection of an earthquake.

Be familiar with the location of your gas meter. If you cannot find your gas meter, look in the following places where gas meters are often installed:

4. Wait for about three minutes

Wait for about three minutes while the gas meter identifies any abnormalities.

5. Check your gas meter after about three minutes

If the red light no longer blinks after about three minutes, you may use the gas again.
*If the red light continues to blink after three minutes, check if any of your taps or appliances has been left open.

Then repeat the restart process.
*If unsuccessful, call the Customer Contact Center.
